Excellent practise accessory

Pros: This mute works extremely well, is cheap to buy and does not damage the bridge in any way.

Cons: For me, there are no cons with this product.

Great cheap practice mute to save your ears

Pros: Good balance of muting between a heavy practice mute and a normal mute

Cons: Not really a negative - It's just not quite wide enough for viola - I use it on a viola because the viola mute is too effective!

My neighbours thank you.

Pros: As a beginner it was important that my neighbours not hate me completely as I started to learn. Luckily this mute works really well at just deadening the sound enough to stop it carrying, while still leaving it possible to judge (usually appalling) tuning. Not quite muting enough to play at odd hours of the night, but perfectly enough to stop the irritated pounding on the walls by the aurally abused.

Cons: Quite heavy. Also have nightmares about leaving it on and shutting my violin case...

Does a lot of muting but changes the tone

Pros: Certainly makes a greater difference then smaller mutes I've used in the past.

Cons: Totally changes the timbre, but that is to be expected with that much muting.

The 'Ultra' violin mute is fantastic!

Pros: Having started to play again, after a gap of 40 years, I was aware that my music-making might not be to everyone's taste. The Ultra practice mute is fantastic, because it's incredibly easy to fit and you can still get a decent tone, whilst decreasing the volume considerably.

Cons: There were no 'cons' that I could find!

Other: I ordered my mute over the phone and it arrived the next morning. Brilliant service!
