Very effective at toning down violin.

Pros: Very easy to put on and off the bridge. Works well to stop the violin singing and vibrating.

Cons: Changes the pitch and tone a lot which is understandable but can take some time to get used to the sound once taken off.

Other: Very effective for practice.

Pros: I tried before I bought, a good friend of mine has one. It works well.

Cons: None - it's such a simple gadget.

Other: It is not for orchestral use, it is for practice use only. For an orchestral mute, a 'Tourte' style on-the-string one is what you should be after.

Pros: I haven't used it yet on my violin so i'm unable to comment on it's muting performance. It feels quite strong yet flexible. I like the size of it, it's the size from the top of my thumb to just above my second thumb joint at the bottom. Other measurement it's 2" long(5.5 cms), and 1cm wide.

Cons: No Cons as yet.
