Pros: Best EVER playing experience I ever had playing any top E. Rated over ANY E string I've ever tried. Nuff said. Anything you could possibly think of in terms of - stability of tone, playability, brilliance, richness and depth(I purchased medium tension ). EXCEPT that...
Cons: ... They do like to break. They are sensitive to snags on the grooves of the nuts (aka "upper saddles") of both my fiddles (to be fair, both my nuts look like they could be dressed better). [Yes I did just write that]. They are not cheap, so it can be annoying. Plus inconvenient, if in the middle of a gig / recital.
Other: Advice: Fit this E as straight as possible - as straight as your pegbox allows. Perhaps also try the old graphite technique (rubbing soft pencil lead / graphite into the groove as a lubricant - never tried it myself but apparently this helps minimise wear and tear, so they hopefully last longer). For sound and performance, I definitely rate them over the Kaplan whistle-free. Even though the Kaplan seems less likely to snap, more reliable in that sense, that other string lacks the sound quality of this "No.1" (although the Kaplan whistle-free is also a great string).

Pros: It sounds very nice now - and goes very well with the other strings (also Pirastro)
Cons: Was very careful setting string up - but the 'loop' bit split as soon as tuned to correct pitch. Very disappointing.
Other: Stringzone were brilliant - as soon as I returned the dud string a new one sent by return. THANK YOU !

Pros: On a new violin the E string was wolfing badly in rapid string crossing. I thought it was a bad string and replaced it with a new Pirastro E. The violin still wolfed. The Pirastro No 1 solved the problem.
Cons: So far I have had no problems with this string.
Other: The string blends well with the other Pirastro strings on the instrument. I bought a wolf note eliminator at the same time as I bought the No 1 but haven't needed it.
