* All strings are ball end, unless otherwise specified.
These good quality student strings give a bright clear tone.
Prelude violin strings are manufactured using a solid steel core. Unaffected by temperature and humidity changes, they have excellent bow response. Prelude strings have the warmest sound available in an affordable, solid steel core string design. Prelude is the educator's preferred choice for student strings due to their unique blend of warm tone, durability, and value
These strings will transform the sound of 'school' violins strung with poor quality Chinese strings. Excellent tone and tuning stability.
To check your instrument size measure the length of the back (LOB) excluding the 'button' which is the thumb shaped extension at the top where the neck is anchored. Old instruments can vary, if more than 1/2" over choose the next size up.
4/4 - LOB 356mm (14")
3/4 - LOB 330mm (13")
1/2 - LOB 305mm (12")
1/4 - LOB 280mm (11")
1/8 - LOB 254mm (10")

Pros: I'm a rank beginner so I'm not really qualified to express an opinion. However, it was obvious that my violin strings needed changing. They were cheap and very old. I've used D'Addario guitar strings for years and never found anything better. These were reasonably priced (expensive ones would be wasted on me) with positive reviews. They have made a noticeable difference. They are responsive and have a mellow, pleasant tone. I am satisfied with my purchase and will buy them again.
Cons: None.

Pros: These were the low tension ones. Fitted them to a Stagg Electric fiddle to reduce the strain on the non-rigid construction of these instruments. Work well to do that, and sound pretty good, though I think the mediums are better unless you have a specific application.
Cons: Nothing not to like, really.
Other: I've had a few sets of these (the medium ones are the same as, and cheaper than, the strings they sell as 'fiddle' strings, I'm told). They are great for a basic metal string. I like a bright sound and these don't disappoint - I find they are not too harsh, and they are smooth and comfortable under the fingers.

Pros: really improved the violin we have! these strings don't slip so is far easier to tune and far better tone.
Cons: n/a
Other: VERY prompt service, very grateful as was able to replace the strings before the next orchestra rehearsal!
