* All strings are ball end, unless otherwise specified.
These good quality student strings give a bright clear tone.
Prelude violin strings are manufactured using a solid steel core. Unaffected by temperature and humidity changes, they have excellent bow response. Prelude strings have the warmest sound available in an affordable, solid steel core string design. Prelude is the educator's preferred choice for student strings due to their unique blend of warm tone, durability, and value
These strings will transform the sound of 'school' violins strung with poor quality Chinese strings. Excellent tone and tuning stability.
To check your instrument size measure the length of the back (LOB) excluding the 'button' which is the thumb shaped extension at the top where the neck is anchored. Old instruments can vary, if more than 1/2" over choose the next size up.
4/4 - LOB 356mm (14")
3/4 - LOB 330mm (13")
1/2 - LOB 305mm (12")
1/4 - LOB 280mm (11")
1/8 - LOB 254mm (10")

Pros: Really good strings at a really good price. Vast improvement over the strings that came with the violin.
Cons: No cons.
Other: I've used D' Addario guitar strings for years and now I've bought a cheap violin so I thought I'd try their strings for that. I'm very pleased that I did.

Pros: They go straight up to pitch with very little settling-in time. Nice bright, clear tone, very suitable for folk/bluegrass playing, and affordable for students.
Cons: They don't last forever, but are cheap enough to compensate.

Pros: Stable consistent string that works well on smaller instruments and beginners instruments. I use them as part of a package of changes to improve the cheaper instruments that a lot of beginners start with.
Cons: Nothing really
Other: Won't transform an instrument on their own but with a reasonable bridge sound post and careful set can make a noticeable difference.
