The NS Micro Violin Tuner features an easy-to-read, multi-colour display in an attractive compact design.
A non-marring, lever-lock clamp holds the tuner securely to the instrument while allowing easy application and removal.
The precision violin tuner is not only perfect for tuning, the unique mounting system and fast pitch response allow it to be used as an effective practice tool for referencing and improving intonation while playing.
Please note this is a new model which DOES NOT feature a metronome as shown in the product video.

Pros: Easy to tune with from small and tidy display and seems more reliable than my other electronic tuner (my teacher always retuned my viola at lessons with the other). Great design for violins. It clamps on the side of the instrument and swivels.
Cons: D'Addario's website says this is for violins and violas but it is about only 1-2 mm too small to fit on my ordinary-sized (15 1/2 inch) viola. It simply isn't big enough to clamp on as it was designed to do, though does have a sliding design to fit on various sizes. One of the rubber feet came off and was lost while I was struggling and it has slightly marred my instrument. I wrote to them and suggested they extend it just that tiny bit and they weren't interested in my comment. I like the tuner enough to continue using it but have to balance it between the pegs where it hangs loosely.
Other: I hope enough viola players write to D'Addario to convince them to add 1mm more to the sliding adjustment. It's a great tuner otherwise.

Pros: Small, unobtrusive, fitted quickly, checks tuning quickly, good screen, easily removed. Very accurate (checked using a tone generator).
Cons: See below - but I still love it.
Other: Started giving spurious readings after 5 days (confusing the G string with the D string among other things) after 2 days of this I checked the unbranded cell - it was going flat. Replaced with a fully charged, branded cell and it works fine now. Tut tut D'Addario; saving a few cents on cheap cells does not make good business sense.

Pros: Easy to place on instrument and small and unobtrusive. Great for checking tuning up and intonation when playing. Simple to use & clear display.
Cons: n/a
Other: This is not a criticism of the product itself but I found it can distract your attention from using your ears to tell if intonation is correct. I now turn it off to make sure I'm actively 'listening' and not just keeping an eye on the tuner display while practicing then put it back on to check for improvement in tuning accuracy every now and again.

Pros: This is a brilliant piece of kit , it safely clips to the violin body with out damaging the varnish and it can stay permanently in situ , it is nice and small so also doesn't need extra room accommodating it in your violin case . Excellent for use in sessions when tuning can be difficult and the visual indicators light up to identify when the correct tuning has been achieved making it easy to see in poor lighting conditions
Cons: I can't find anything to dislike
Other: i highly recommend this tuner

Pros: Hard to believe that I initially ignored this as a novelty 'toy' when it first came out. Having now tried it, I find it accurate (I've tested it), fast, clear, discrete and invaluable. Absolutely indispensable for monitoring intonation during practice. I now wouldn't be without one - so I bought a spare, to make sure! Just buy it - you won't regret it.
Cons: Nothing whatsoever, even compared with very sophisticated tuners. (I am using this tuner on fiddles, so can't comment on its use for violas. Note: to remove the little plastic tab which seems to have been causing a bit of confusion, just slide out the battery tray).
Other: Well packaged by Stringzone, and prompt delivery.

Pros: The tuner is small, easy to read, accurate and the clamp works well.I bought one for a pupil and liked it so much i bought another for myself. Invaluable for Ceilidh's where its too noisy to tune and the Keyboard player is too involved" calling "to give an" A."Also batteries used are standard CR 2032's which are cheap and easy to get.Purchasing quick and easy,as usual, through Stringzone.
Cons: Nothing really ,good, practical bit of kit
Other: Also very good for Scale work ,especially starting up the neck ,as the pupil can check notes as they practice.
