The Bonmusica violin shoulder rest. Pliable metal base allows for a high degree of custom fit.
This rest can be customised to a very high level and is ideal for players who feel their instrument can slip down, especially in the higher playing positions.
The hook can be moved to provide a good anchorage at the prefered playing position. Adjustable height and tilt combined with a bendable plate allow an almost infinite range and will enable the vast majority of players to achieve a comfortable playing experience.

Pros: Once it is appropriately adjusted it allows freedom of left arm/vibrato/shifting etc. One therefore adapts one's playing to a more static position...
Cons: Over-engineered and very heavy; you certainly know that you have it attached to the instrument.
Other: A very sound idea which ought to be able to be re-designed in a modern lightweght material.

Pros: This is a wonderful shoulder rest. It has lots of flexibility and you can adjust it to fit very easily. I have a long neck and this rest is the best I have found to help me to hold the violin using chin and shoulder alone. The hook over the shoulder keeps it in place perfectly.
Cons: It's quite expensive but definitely worth it.

Pros: Very unusual design, but you feel very comfortable when you use it. You also feel assured that you're not going to lose the violin by it slipping off your shoulder. It also stops the dreadful "squash" habit thus preventing pain in the shoulder and neck. Can be bent easily and adjusted to fit each individual perfectly!
Cons: Doesn't fit in my violin case. The sponge/foam used on the pad is quite flimsy.
Other: Definitely recommending this to my friends and fellow players!

Pros: This shoulder rest works on the same basic principles as other makes, for example the Kun, but the major difference is the considerable amount of adjustments that are possible in order to get a precise fit to your shoulder and neck height. It enables you to arrive by trial and error at something that feels as though it was tailor made for you. This is not difficult to achieve once you understand the various ways the rest can be adjusted and it is fun finding out.
Cons: There seem to be no real downsides to this product it is really very good and it is difficult to imagine how shoulder rests could be made any better from this point on.
Other: The only other thing to add is that this product is much pricier than most other shoulder rests and is really for those with deep pockets. I think young players on limited budgets will still find the other brand leading shoulder rests satisfactory enough for their present requirements.

Pros: It is a violin rest
Cons: This was a gift for my dad so I'm sure it's fine BUT
Other: I wasn't impressed with the condition of the box when it turned up. The thin cardboard had collapsed and when you're paying £50 for something that small I expect it to be well wrapped.

Pros: it is very comfortable even without personal adjustment, and gives the musician a much greater confidence in knowing the fiddle will remain in place and not slip during play.
Cons: That it only comes in black? I would love it in bright red!
Other: needs more advertising - since using it I have already allowed two friends to use it and they are sold.
