* All strings are ball end, unless otherwise specified.
Zyex Composite synthetic core strings produce an extremely warm, rich sound.
Zyex is a new generation of synthetic material, creating strings that are extremely stable under drastic climatic conditions. Zyex strings settle in on the instrument very fast, within a matter of hours.
Zyex has a warmer sound than most other synthetic core strings, and they have excellent projection, making them exceptional for soloist use as well as symphonic and for calming down the tone of very bright instruments.

Pros: I consider these strings a Best Buy - they deliver full rich clean sound, last a long time and rarely need re-tuning. A few years ago I started playing my viola again after a 30+ years gap and I really liked them for the the foregoing reasons. (Now I've moved on to Pirastro Obligato which admittedly are more professional standard). I bought these Xyex for my son's good quality violin (he's in gap years!) and, yes, they sound really fine so I've taken up the violin as well. Defintely recommended.
Cons: Nothing
Other: Great value for the price.

Pros: Very responsive strings, and very stable in tuning after settling down (about 48 hrs in my experience). I particularly liked the evenness of response across the strings, and the smooth sound of the E string.
Cons: Nothing so far.

Pros: Lot of sound with a very light touch
Cons: Too much resinance within my particular fiddle, the notes hung on too long and could not seperate it came accross as a flat humm.
Other: I have taken them off and gone back to a new set of Obligato where I am in control of the sound.

Pros: Very warm sound, especially on the A and D strings. Pizzicato sounds *so* much better than it did on the Dominants I previously used. And the E string isn't quite so "buzz-saw-like".
Cons: The strings took a while to "settle in" until they no longer gave a rather raw sound almost like a cello A string. They now seem much better though (< 1 week)
Other: Stretching when first put on wasn't too bad: about two or three days before I no longer needed to constantly retune.

Fair priced strings.
Pros: The price is reasonable, they settle down quite quickly (a couple of days) and sound very acceptable.
Cons: None
Other: Good strings for the price. They do what it says on the packet. They are better than *mid-priced* strings but not as responsive and fine-toned as more expensive strings. You get what you pay for.
