Pros: Ingenious design achieving minimal contact with the back of the instrument. Capable of pretty extreme adjustments.
Cons: Not quite reliable enough, for me anyway. Also, the extent of adjustment didn't allow me to have the instrument in my favoured position. It didn't fall to pieces as I played, but it did change the angle at which I'd adjusted it - sometimes suddenly. I didn't like to be too aggressive with the adjustment screw for fear of damaging the slippery ball it was biting into. One was warned not to over-tighten.
Other: I'm pleased to have had the opportunity of trying this out, but have since opted for something less ingenious and more robust and stable, combined with a change of chinrest.

Pros: it's a good concept as a different type shoulder rest which is supposed to have less contact with the viola and therefore perhaps not affect the sound quality
Cons: it is tricky to mount. It looks like the gap between the shoulder rest and the viola is too small so once the lever is detached for transportation, it needs to be forced back in - which shouldn't be the case. It could be that the viola we have has a profile which is not so flat so it is more difficult to fit the shoulder rest on it. We now need to take it to a specialist to seek advice if we are doing something wrong or it simply is not a good fit for our viola.
