Pros: I had a set of strings on my viola with which I was pleased. The only problem was that I thought that the notes on the C string were not as in focus as notes on the other strings. I had tried one or two other strings to no avail, so I asked The String Zone for some ideas. Amongst others, they suggested a Warchal Amber C, so I ordered one. The difference was amazing and also the effect it had on the other strings - the whole instrument became more resonant. I was not only pleased with the string being more in focus for pitch but the warm rich sound was also very good. The Warchal Amber C string has an impressive amplitude and on my viola speaks very freely.
Cons: None
Other: I am aware that violas come in different shapes and sizes. It can also be that problems of sound can be put right by bridge and post adjustments, and I am pretty experienced at looking out for those. I play a modern instrument with a sixteen and a quarter length back.
