'Tourte' Violin Shape Violin/Viola Mute

Pros: How easily and quickly you can put it on and off.

Cons: Doesn't make a substantial difference to the sound especially for viola.

Pros: quick and easy to put on, doesn’t ruin tone, mutes just the right amount, small but clips on so not too easy to lose.

Pros: They work well; they are easy to fit, they mute the sound just right for me; they don't colour the sound of the violin, they can slide out of the way and be parked near the tail-piece.

Other: Being small and black they can be easy to lose; I bought more than one for this reason.

Pros: It's a very wise choice if you have a lively instrument - the standard round mute rattles a lot, to the point where I remove it, and then it's never there when I need it!

Cons: Nothing. It's the best design for my violin and viola.

Pros: It both works when on the bridge and stays still when resting near the tail piece.

Cons: Comes off slightly too easily if you are fiddling around with it.
