Description
Long established mute which stays on the instrument.Long established sliding mute which stays on the instrument. Fit by squeezing together the 2 middle strings and then push the mute down. The 2 strings when released will engage in the mute wires to secure it. German mute not to be confused with inferior Chinese items.

Pros: Doesn't rattle or fall off. Easy to put on and remove quickly without interrupting flow of the music, can use either hand for it.
Cons: Scratches my strings a bit. Doesn't actually mute that much on higher strings.
Other: A very convenient, low-profile mute that is easy to put on and remove very quickly and quietly with either hand. However this ease sacrifices the actual muting; my viola's D and A don't sound all that different muted or un-muted! Also dragging the mute up and down the strings does leave marks on the strings. I will stick with it for the pure convenience factor but next time I change the strings I will probably swap back to a traditional round rubber one (with magnet!).

Pros: Firet of all i have to say I'm using tjis mute on a violin. i tried the violin version before and it was so tight it damaged the strings, and quite badly. This one is a bit looser and doesn't mess with the strings.
Cons: Since it's not perfectly toght on tje bridge the muting effect is diminished. It still helps with the loudest and higher pitches. i find it useful, even though i wouldn't reccommend it f you need really quite practicing. It's still better than a tortue mute in my opinion.
