Our recommended string for school violas. Wound steel.
Unbeatable quality and value for new players.

Pros: Easy going, no hassle, beginner friendly, nice sounding viola string. Nice clear but warm sound which helps to eliminate the inevitable screeching, whistling, agonised-braying sounds you make when you are learning. No epic calculations and considerations of the miniscule details of sound quality required of professional level strings, no breaking it in, no hours spent agonising over minute details of the production process, no faff, no palaver and they don't cost an arm and a leg either. Just buy it, put it on your viola, it sounds lovely, job done :)
Cons: none :)
Other: really speedy delivery and bargain price from The String Zone - thank you! :)

Short strings for very small viola!
Pros: Glad to be able to get spare extra short strings for my son's very small viola (1/4 violin). Haven't had to use it yet so can't comment on quality / tone.
Cons: None yet
Other: Only giving 3 stars just because we haven't actually used the string yet so can't comment on quality

Pros: Good quality with useful sleeve, and not too thin. Quality of sound very good for a budget priced string.Having tried many D strings which I did not like, this is one of the best for my 16" viola.
Cons: Possibly a little bright compared to my usual Aricore D.
Other: Excellent reserve string like the other Prelude strings.
