Gold, previously known as Gold Label is the entry level gut core string by Pirastro. For those who prefer a simple, gut cored string at an affordable price these strings are the answer. They have a bright sound combined with easy playability under the fingers. Available in full size, medium tension only.
Excellent quality and value for players who like the old gut sound. Please note these strings are not recommended for use with fine tuners.

Pros: Good clean sound but still light enough to use as a baroque string.
Cons: Not cheap.
Other: The cellist in the family is my wife. The Luthier, who made my wife's cello, is impressed with the string, I use this make of string (D,G and C) on my baroque violin and viola.

Best C string
Pros: Beautiful and bright gut sound with quick response. I prefer gold to oliv and eudoxa as g and c strings.
Cons: None
Other: To stabilize tuning I put Johnson baby oil on string surface except for bowed place. Treatment once or twice is sufficient.
