Pirastro Eudoxa Double Bass String, A

Pros: Wonderful range of colours, can sound very dark, or bright and brilliant. Speaks very easily. More treble overtones than Oliv, harmonics true and remain bright throughout the life of the string. Fantastic sustain in both pizz and arco. Silver winding feels beautiful to play on. I love that every string you buy has its own individual character.

Cons: It can take several days to get the silk into the pegbox as the string stretches. They take far longer to settle than Oliv and can sound very bright for a few weeks. But after a couple of months the real darkness starts to come through. Some people moan about the price, but in terms of what they give you in return I just think it is value for money. Obviously they can break, which can be expensive but part of the charm I guess!
