Pros: What a difference! Love this rosin. Grippy but not sticky. Using the rosin supplied with my violin outfit required applying copious amounts of rosin every 1hr of playing. Hardly surprising, you have no idea how long your violin outfit sat in stock before you bought it and the rosin may in fact be a number of years old and quite hard. A single application of Guillaume rosin lasts a number of days and I dont have that "thick" bowhair feeling when playing. I also dont have to clean the violin of rosin dust every day and a quick wipe of the strings with a soft cloth is sufficient after practice.
Cons: The tin box for the rosin looks great (though perhaps not as elegant as the Sartory wooden box) but I do worry that if I drop it, the tin might dent and this may mean that the lid doesn't fit anymore.

Pros: The first word which came into my mind when first bowing using this rosin was "Smooth". Pierre Guillaume rosin suits me and my playing perfectly. The right amout of grip needed, the core of the tone and the harmonics perfectly balanced. Little or no dust, no coating of the strings. Just perfect.
Cons: None
Other: The small diameter cake takes a little getting used to. The aluminium container protects it well and the rosin appears to be well cooked (darkish) and suits what I want from a rosin, which is a somewhat 'deeper' sound and it is french - like much of me.
