MEDIUM TENSION, SYNTHETIC CORE.
The Virtuoso Viola sets consist of Virtuoso or Soloist D, G, and C together with original Larsen Viola A. suitable for violas with a 35 -38cm scale length and back up to 16.5inches. For violas over 16.5 inch back we would recommend the long scale set.

Pros: Power and responsiveness without compromising warmth and sensitivity. Fairly quick to settle.
Cons: Nothing as of yet, been using them for a couple of months and they are holding up well.
Other: As always, every instrument is different and different strings suit different instruments. My viola likes to have complete sets all put on at the same time. I used one particular very popular set for years whilst testing other sets every now and again, I've tried lots over the year and always went back to the popular set until now...these Larsen strings allow me to have the warmth and variation in tone of my previous string preference whilst being more responsive and giving me more power, which is not something I've found in any of the other sets I've tried.

Very happy with these strings!
Pros: I love the stability of tuning and the projection these strings give me, whilst still enabling me to produce a complete range of dynamics from my instrument!
Cons: The A string takes a little longer to settle tonally than I would ideally like!

Larsen Virtuoso for my viola
Pros: I am new to the viola and have done so to be able to compose outdoors, in lieu of my cello. I simply do not have the resources Yo Yo Ma has to be able to play outdoors...I use Larsens on my cello so naturally gravitated towards these. No complaints and bought an extra A as to a cellist the A seems not so very strong!!!
