The original Jargar string, now called Jargar Classic. Set of 4 strings. Steel on steel core. Ever popular, long standing 'old style' cello string.
The Classic string is made of a flexible steel core which gives it the warm and brilliant Jargar sound. They are the result of nearly 60 years tradition of hand made cello strings developed by a cellist to cellists. The Classic strings produce a warm and powerful tone. Their playability, sound qualities and durability has made them the perfect choice for both amateurs and professionals for nearly 60 years.

Pros: This set went on a superior student Hungarian, semi-hand made cello. This is my son's new cello and the strings on it were dreadful. I've found through experience that Jargarsoften sound very good indeed on more modern instruments and they are built to take the strain of a fully metal string. I played the strings in myself and found them lovely. The feel on the left hand was good and smooth as usual and the bow 'bites' into Jargars nicely, so you can produce a good sound without too much bow pressure. There is a good even sound across the tonal range and this set of strings has been very good.
Cons: Perhaps the A string is just a little too harsh for this particular cello. It's still far better than what was on it before, but I think I'll replace the A string with an old Larsen I've taken off my cello, which will still give power, but a softer more muted sound. By the way, I replaced the Larsen on my own cello with a Jargar Forte A string and the results have been fantastic.
Other: This set of strings is excellent and has brought new life to this cello. I recommend if possible to mix and match your strings to your instrument. I have found a combination of Larsens and Jargars very good indeed, and I run both of my own cellos on this combination.Jargars are still in my opinion, one of the best strings on the market for cellos, and they can be right for your cello, even very expensive and valuable cellos.

Pros: I have picked up my cello again after 30 years. It's a cheap student model & the original strings were harsh & worn. I can't afford a new cello but an investment in decent strings has made a huge difference. The Jargars are much more mellow in tone, but consistent and balanced across the strings. It's much easier to make my cello sing, and it's much easier to hear what is due to my poor technique rather than my old strings. It would be interesting to compare with other strings, especially after reading the reviews, but I'm very happy with these & would probably get them again.
Cons: They don't need a lot of rosin - they became quite scratchy quite quickly with a couple of rubs of rosin so I'll back off on this.

Pros: They arrived quickly at a sensible price. They were adequately packed and well invoiced. They did not break during installation to the cello! They sound more mellow than the strings I used before. After one week, I am still very pleased with them.
Cons: No complaints so far.
Other: My teacher's advice was very valuable - he recommended Jargar strings, and the type I should order - and where I should buy them. Since he is a musician of growing importance (Arturo Serna from Venezuela) and a superb teacher, I took his advice and am delighted with the result.

Pros: I got these strings to try out on my electric cello. I have previously used NS electric strings and Pirastro Obligato (I only tried the Obligatos because I managed to get a set at a great price but I was warned by my luthier they would be a bad match for my acoustic), and these Jargar strings are DEFINITELY the best so far! Most people say using different types of strings on electric instruments doesn't make a difference, but I could hear the improvement immediately with this set! Warmer, brighter and more acoustic-like! Such a good price too for such an improved sound! I'm now tempted to try them on my acoustic too
Cons: NONE! Some reviews claim the A string can break easily of over tuned so I always take care tuning up and pulled the string up to pitch gradually when I restrung, but no problems so far!

Pros: Good quality strings that produce nice tone across all strings. These are particularly suited to my Franz Sandner cello. They do not need much rosin on the bow to play well.
Cons: None
