Having a comfortable instrument is crucial for mastering basic techniques like playing in tune, vibrato, and even bowing.
Made in the USA from a special vinyl gel material that has the feel and texture of our own human skin. It is form-fitting and makes any violin chinrest feel like it's custom made.
The soft Gel pad sticks immediately to a clean chin rest and can be cleaned ongoing while in situ. Available to fit most popular chin rest models and materials, but can be trimmed for a perfect fit if necessary.
Fitting your GelRest is simple but you must make sure that your chinrest is smooth and clean from dirt or oils. Enclosed are comprehensive fitting instructions and special swabs for ensuring the chin rest surface is correctly prepared before fitting the product.

Pros: I had one of these for my violin so as soon as I changed to the viola it was the first item on my shopping list. The gel rest is a good fit and helps make me feel as if the instrument is more secure. It makes the chin rest more comfortable and blends in really well .
Cons: It does take a few attempts to align it perfectly but that’s because I’m a perfectionist - not the gel rests fault
Other: Service from The String Zone was prompt as usual

Pros: The gel is soft and prevents the edges of the chinrest from chafing my rather bony chin.
Cons: I was disappointed with this product as I expected much more for the price. It really is little more than a piece of gel. The sticky side is sticky but not adhesive (a half full jar of honey tends to be sticky), so it slides around on the chinrest, in fact it prefered to stick to my chin! Covering with a piece of Chamois leather helped. I did expect the upper face to be covered with something soft - like lycra, the gel wristrest on my mouse mat has this and cost rather less. It would be better if the underside is non-slip rather than sticky.
Other: I have now bought a number of items from The String Zone and find their service first class.

Pros: The first item I was sent failed to adhere to the chinrest. The Stringzone replaced the item and we had a useful email discussion about the problem - exceptional customer care, the Stringzone taking a great interest in the problem and making every effort to put it right. A lens wipe was included with the replacement to ensure absolute clealiness of the chin rest. The replacement seems to have better adhesion. I find the Gelrest a useful product, providing a good cushion for the chin and grip.
Cons: The adhesion issue is clearly of concern to others besides me. It may be that the adhesive on some of the Gelrests is weak. Cleaning the chin rest before applying the Gelrest is essential.

Pros: These are so comfortable, I have two now! When wearing makeup I find my chin slip a bit on the chin rest and this prevents that. I clean my chin rest with a little anti bacterial hand gel which contains some alcohol and this removes any oils/makeup, before I fit the gelrest. They attach perfectly to wooden chin rests but if you use a plastic one, they don't stick.
Cons: No cons at all.

Pros: Very comfortable. Violin feels more secure under the chin. Would certainly recommend. Fixed firmly onto my rosewood chin rest without problem and has not moved since.
Cons: None so far.

Pros: Good design. Very comfortable.
Cons: Lousy adhesive. Kept slipping then falling off. In the end I peeled off the remains of the adhesive and stuck it to the chinrest with Super glue. Permanent, yes, but successful.
