* All strings are ball end, unless otherwise specified.
The original and best known synthetic cored string. Regarded as the reference standard for this type of string. Well adapted to give excellent playing properties on any instrument.
Dominant strings give a warm and clear sound which closely approximates to a traditional covered gut string. Tonally stable and easy to play on they suitable for all players beginner to professional.
Medium tension strings. For other tensions please click the link above.
NB The set 135 with aluminium wound E is the traditional and well known version of these strings. The aluminium winding being a more suitable choice for learners as it is easier to produce a clear sound without whistles or overtones. The set 135B features a plain Chrome plated steel E which will appeal to advanced players for its clarity and projection.
Aluminium E Set with ball end only. For loop end E set please order four individual strings.
Steel E set (135B) E has a loop end with removable ball to take out if required.
To check your instrument size measure the length of the back (LOB) excluding the 'button' which is the thumb shaped extension at the top where the neck is anchored. Old instruments can vary, if more than 1/2" over choose the next size up.
4/4 - LOB 356mm (14")
3/4 - LOB 330mm (13")
1/2 - LOB 305mm (12")
1/4 - LOB 280mm (11")

Super price for reliable service.
Pros: I liked the price of these strings and the fact that they arrived in good condition and so promptly.
Cons: They were not priced individually, so I had to guess how much each one cost. (See listings for individual prices. Ed.)

Dominant violin strings
Pros: Replacing a set of Dominant strings already in use. These strings give very good sound for beginners. The old ones have been replaced due to wear and tear. There are three violin players in the family and we all use Dominant strings.
Cons: none. Other strings have been used but not found to produce the best sounds with the three violins we have

Excellent string set for classical and traditio0na
Pros: A well priced set. These are still the benchmark string I use to measure others against and have yet to change to another brand.
Cons: They take a week or so to play in. The E string is sometimes not balanced withion the set. They wear out relatively quickly
Keen Amateur
Excellent in both service and products.
Pros: Excellent strings with a warm tone and once settled in are very reliable in all kinds of conditions.
Cons: I could find nothing against these strings
Other: This was a fast and efficient delivery service and offers a very wide range of strings and other products

Dominant - no surprises, no risks
Pros: Strong, well balanced set for loudness, no sudden change of tone across strings. Same every time - the default set fitted in the sales room and therefore widely available. Settle quickly into pitch, so a good spare for emergencies and they don't seem to break.
Cons: Harsh on violins that lean to the treble end. Difficult for learners to tune without fine-adjusters. A and wound E are short lived - get 2 As and a plain E. with a set. Aluminium only windings may not suit 'wet' players. No real weaknesses but no real strengths, tonally.
