Description

The original and best known synthetic cored string. Regarded as the reference standard for this type of string. Well adapted to give excellent playing properties on any instrument.

Dominant strings give a warm and clear sound which closely approximates to a traditional covered gut string. Tonally stable and easy to play on they suitable for all players beginner to professional.

Medium tension strings. For other tensions please click the link above.

NB The set 135 with aluminium wound E is the traditional and well known version of these strings. The aluminium winding being a more suitable choice for learners as it is easier to produce a clear sound without whistles or overtones. The set 135B features a plain Chrome plated steel E which will appeal to advanced players for its clarity and projection.

Aluminium E Set with ball end only. For loop end E set please order four individual strings.

Steel E set (135B) E has a loop end with removable ball to take out if required.

To check your instrument size measure the length of the back (LOB) excluding the 'button' which is the thumb shaped extension at the top where the neck is anchored. Old instruments can vary, if more than 1/2" over choose the next size up.

4/4 - LOB 356mm (14")

3/4 - LOB 330mm (13")

1/2 - LOB 305mm (12")

1/4 - LOB 280mm (11")

1/8 - LOB 254mm (10")

Using a loop end E? The use of a protector to prevent the tuner hook breaking the string is essential with loop end E strings. We cannot accept claims for strings broken by the adjuster hook. Click here to purchase this item.

A reliable string set for the keen player.

Pros: They tune in easily and after a little playing need very little adjustment. Once 'settled' in they make a good sound. Pleased with the swift, reliable service from The String Zone, who offer these string sets at a slightly cheaper price than other sites - much appreciated.

Cons: Have had only one break on me after just a few weeks, others have lasted for quite a while.

Other: Probably the best choice of strings for me; a beginner, and playing on a budget, not wishing to buy the cheapest ones that really sound tinny and don't last that long.

Gotta be my bad, right?

Excellent strings. Excellent retailer. 5* service

Pros: This was the second set I had purchased from Stringzone. Excellent value for money and really good strings. Speedy delivery.

Cons: None

Other: When I ordered these I had just had to restring my daughter's violin 2 days before her exam and she was then worried about having a spare set in time. I ordered them late on Wednesday evening and they arrived Friday morning

Good quality strings.
1 out of 2 found the following review helpful

Pros: Reliable tuning, good tone, reasonably priced for the quality they are.

Cons: Always a little metallic-sounding before they're played in - so get practising!

Other: Always my first recommendation to pupils as a balance between quality and price.
