The D-string NO.DP42 is also characterized by an airy and light sound character but is somewhat warmer than the A-string. It is the tonal prime example of a cello D-string – warm, round, singing – and creates a homogeneous connection to the G- and C-strings. However, its sonorous sound in the upper registers is exceptional.
Fast direct response .
Inspiration redefined: Inspired by the sound of a tube amplifier and using the playing possibilities created by an innovative metal core, DOMINANT PRO redefines past tonal ideals. The set has an airy, light sound character with pronounced, brilliant overtones and a pleasantly warm basic timbre with plenty of texture.

Pros: Warm, complex and expressive, responding well to subtleties of bowing, and retains its good tone and playing characteristics even in high positions. This string has a nice feel to it - smooth but slightly 'chewy' and satisfying to play, more so than any other metal D string I have tried. It encourages you to relax and sink into the string - really nice.
Cons: Could perhaps be a tad brighter, but this is very much a matter of taste and instrument.
Other: There are definite similarities with the high tension Dominant I have tried before, but is definitely more robust. It feels more like a gut or synthetic core string than metal - I would say it is the best of both worlds. I am still trying to decide whether I prefer it to my previous favourite, Evah Pirazzi Soloist which is a bit brighter. At the moment I feel no urge to put the EPS back on, I am enjoying the new string so much. I have only tried it in the practice room however so can't compare how they project.
