A great student bow and superb value for money.

Pros: I’m returning to the violin after the best part of 40 years layoff. My grade 8 from 1981 is now a mediocre grade 5 at best, but this bow has made even me sound good. Excellent balance and and easy to control but also bounces in a nice predictable way for spiccato etc. The tone is strong and even, especially when wound up to the upper end of the recommended tension range. Pleasantly surprised at how good it is for the money. Recommended!

Cons: Some of the finish around the frog and tip is a bit sketchy.

Other: Great service and a very reasonable price from The String Zone

Good all-round, value-for-money performer

Pros: I bought this as a spare whilst my main bow was being rehaired (by the string zone). This bow represents excellent value for money. It's responsive and draws a pretty good tone

Cons: For the money, none

Balance and control

Pros: Wonderful control and balance. I have been playing only for a few months and it made a big difference. I was making a decent sound with the stock bow but when I first used this one in the same way ..I found it very loud!!! I couldn't believe how delicately you can play and I think I have improved quicker using it. Obviously it's not a miracle worker..and I practice hard, but I think I making progress faster.

Cons: Nothing.. it's great!

Good travelling bow

Pros: I purchased the bow to take along with my Cricket travelling violin, and ordered the 3/4 size as I needed a shorter and cheaper bow to take onboard a sailing boat. It does the job fine. Good price and reasonable quality.

Cons: I wouldn't use it as my 'best bow' as I have a Coda Diamond bow which is much better quality, but it still gives a much better sound and feel than a cheap wood or plastic bow.

Other: I would imagine that the full size version provides a good option for folk players going out to pubs to play.

Superb bow for folk fiddling.
2 out of 4 found the following review helpful

Pros: I read several reviews about the Col Legno bow before buying, all positive but I tried another more expensive one out (Orchestra carbon fibre) and didn't like it so I finally bought this one. I also wanted a 3/4 size bow to travel with. I thought it would be a nice second bow but to be honest I can't put it down! It's brilliant for folk fiddling, simple tunes that I usually play. It's got a great balance and response and you can spiccato really neatly with it too. At this rate my much more expensive ipe wood normal bow isn't going to see much use.

Cons: None to mention.

Other: Great service, really fast despatch and nicely packed in a tube
