This is an excellent bow for the beginner violin player. This is a simple correctly made bow adequate for beginners or as a back up. Progressing players will require something a bit better. The bow is made of Brazilwood, a traditional material for student bows, with an octagonal stick and solid ebony frog. The frog is 'half mounted' i.e. of solid wood without a metal backing plate and features a pearl dot decoration. See photo. The lapping is a 2 colour plastic with a leather thumbgrip. The natural horsehair is pre-rosined with quality professional grade rosin so the bow is available for immediate use. The bow can be rehaired in the normal way

Pros: I investigated buying a new bow for my son after he broke his at school and the cost of repair would have not been worthwhile. I am extremely pleased with the bow, the weight and balance are good and it is clearly a step up from the previous bow that my son had (bought as part of a set). My son thinks it helps him to make a good sound and has improved his confidence (grade 4).
Cons: Nothing
Other: Yet again an extremely good service with a good product from the string zone

Pros: Nice weight in general, especially in the lower half and the middle, looks good, very good value for the price.
Cons: Nothing much, perhaps a little light in the upper half, but a good purchase for the price.

Pros: Resturning to violin after 50 years and needed new bow. This is a lovely bow, light and easy to hold and extremely well made. Great value for money and would recommend for beginner.
Cons: I have no dislikes about this bow

Pros: My son is a beginner. His violin teacher is a professor at the Royal College of Music. His teacher rejected the first 3/4 violin I rented as not good enough. I was worried that the 3/4 bow would be rejected as well. After a "test drive" by his teacher it was allowed to stay.
Cons: Nothing

Pros: Brilliant bow! It's not heavy, not light but just perfect! Such a comfortable bow to play with!
Cons: When loosening - the screw can sometimes come out to the extent that it won't go in again - you have to push it and screw back in, not too much of a problem - but it worried me the first time!

Pros: Great bow. I bought this as an upgrade for my daughter and to encourage her playing. Very nice, I could hear the difference immediately. It was delivered promptly and we're very happy with it.
Cons: None
