Universally popular violin shoulder rest. Curved shape, height adjustable on both sides from 0.5cm to 8cm. The first choice of many players for over 40 years. Wide variation in fit from flexible base plate, compound leg bolt for maximum height adjustment. Folding legs. Supplied with 2 x extension barrels for extra height and rubberised tip to the extension bar for added protection of your instrument.
1/2 & 1/4 Violin 'Standard' model : this cheaper option provides the same popular shoulder rest but without the adjustable, screw legs.

Pros: Adaptable, flexible, kind to the violin.
Cons: Await to see how long the foam lasts. I was expecting something a little thicker but it is v comfortable nonetheless
Other: I tried a primo some years ago and hated it and returned it and I used an everest instead. I still use the everest for one of my fiddles that is quite slim on the lower bout. I got a new violin last year which is now my ‘posh’ violin and struggled to find a shoulder rest that I was confident wouldn’t scratch it. I saw that this secondo forte model had angle adjustable legs and also that the bolt didn’t seem like it would damage the instrument on taking it on and off. I am really pleased with it. It has adjusted perfectly and I now feel like I am getting the most out of the instrument. The only reason it is not a 5/5 for me is because I would have liked a slightly thicker foam pad and that like all rests it falls ofd occasionally. I am hard to please so take this as a very positive review.

Pros: This is only the second Wolf Forte Secondo Shoulder Rest I have had in very many years of playing. They are reliable and durable and fit the violin without causing any damage to the varnish.
Cons: None

Pros: Easy to fit and well made.
Cons: Not the most comfortable for me but human anatomy is variable, a similar rest on my viola is more comfortable.
Other: Good value and service from the string zone.

Pros: None
Cons: It is of very poor quality. I t keeps moving and of.
Other: I bought it for my children and it hurts them. I called the company to see if I can return it to take another make, they were not very helpful as I had thrown the original packaging, which was just clear plastic bag, away.

Pros: Nothing
Cons: I purchased this for my 8 year old daughter as it came highly recommended by her teacher. After struggling for days to adjust it to fit her violin, we gave up and had to return it. Unfortunately, the instruction manual was poorly written and didn't help us very much.

Pros: Very comfortable. Wide range of adjustment to the height on both sides possible. The rubber tipped feet grip and hold the violin with no danger of marking or scratching the varnish.
Cons: Minor quibble: instruction leaflet slightly vague.

Pros: I recommend these to all my students as they can be moulded to fit the player. As well as hight & width adjustment, you can bend the body of the rest to fit comfortably around the shoulder.
Cons: None
