* All strings are ball end, unless otherwise specified.
Spirocore strings have a flexible multiwire spiral rope core which results in a longer vibration period with reduced inertia. They are highly responsive and long lasting and are ideal for both pizzicato and bowing. Widely regarded as the reference standard in double bass strings.
Available in 3/4 scale (106cm) or 4/4 scale (110cm) . Please consult the options list for available scales and tensions (high tension no longer available for 3/4 scale).

Pros: Have been using Spirocore mediums for years then after a 20 year break from Double bass playing have returned with a new Wilfer Lion Head 3/4 Bass and after lowering the action fitted Spirocore Weich strings. They are just so good giving a much lighter feel and brighter with more sustain. Simply put they are the best for jazzing! They arco well too and facilitate faster passages. On the Wilfer bass the tone is just amazing. Not cheap though.
Cons: Price.

Spirocore, a classic all round double bass string
Pros: I purchased the strings for my electric upright bass and found them to work pretty well on it. I used to use Spirocore hybrid strings because, although I'm a jazz bassist, I do a lot of bowing and thought a hybrid string was the best option. I found the classic Spirocore works much better and responds to the bow movement quicker.
Cons: Can't see any particular down side to them, excluding the price of strings in general.

Pros: I'm principally a jazz bassist and this is my 2nd set of these strings. Previously I used Pirastro Flexocore - a good string but a lot heavier. The soft Spirocores give a good sound, bright but not lacking in warmth. They are a lot easier to pluck and sustain and softer on the left hand too.
Cons: They seem quite expensive - a set of strings is a big investment, so I tend not to experiment too much with different bands and sets.

Pros: A popular string for my jazz customers.
Cons: Unfortunate error. The 3/4 size set ordered was supplies with one 1/2 size string. However the replacement arrived by return post.
Other: I find it difficult to use the points earned as credit against a new order?
