Violino are professional quality synthetic cored strings which combine the qualities of Evah Pirazzi and Obligato but with a lower tension for a warm, easy sound. A great value modern string. Highly recommended for all types of instrument. Available in full size only.

Neutral and relatively inexpensive
Pros: I wanted a neutral and relatively inexpensive set of strings to discover more about a new (but quite old) violin and after a bit of research and reading plenty of reviews, I settled on the Violino and I am delighted with them. Surprisingly loud and easy to find the right intonantion. I will happily play with these strings and see no need to "upgrade" any time soon. Very pleased with Violino with possible exception of the G string which feels slower and more difficult to sound and maybe a bit "muddier" than the other strings. The A and E strings sing loud and strong, with plenty of variation available.
Cons: None, I think you get plenty for what you pay!

Clear and responsive but lack depth colour.
Pros: Clean and clear tone, stable and responsive. I try this set out as I am trying to avoid spending 70 - 90 on a new set every 2 months. EP gold is the set use when I have an important gig lined up.
Cons: A little thin sounding and metallic on my violin in comparison with Larsen Tzigane which is warm, earthy and bold sounding. However I find the response of Tzigane too slow.

Very distinctive strings
Pros: I got the strings hoping for a darker quieter sound. They really do sound quieter and the tone is very pretty and colourful when played with a specific bow. The distinctive characteristic of the bow is that it has less hair than others.
Cons: When played with my usual bow, the strings sound screechy and hairy.
Other: I have rated these as 3 because the strings are described as lower tension, but when I received them during the heat of July 2018, they went on so tight that I could not tune them up to pitch. When the luthier tried, the bridge fell over. I don't know does this mean they are more vulnerable than other strings to extreme weather conditions.

Expressive but impact on tone limited
Pros: They seem more expressive than the Tonica strings that they replaced.
Cons: None
Other: I thought I'd try these to give more depth to a violin with a very bright, not to say shrill, tone. I'm not sure whether they have done this exactly, although they do seem to give more character.
