Purpose designed for enhanced projection and volume particularly at the higher harmonics. Slightly higher tension than the standard, Original string to accept enhance bow pressure.
Soloist edition strings are based on a solid steel core, but different in properties and dimensions from their regular counterparts. The A and D strings are wound with precision rolled stainless steel flat wire, the G string with tungsten.

Pros: Loud and dynamically responsive.
Cons: A very strong buzz was evident immediately on playing the string, the buzz only observed when playing the D (both arco and pizzicato). The cello was checked for potential sources of buzzing such as the tailpiece adjusters and the scroll nut without success in identifying a reason for the buzz. I played on the string for a week in the hope that the string would play in. This did not improve the buzzing. I changed the string back to the previous Larsen medium string, with an immediate elimination of the buzz.
Other: The string was obtained from String Zone well packed , both inner plastic and outer paper perforated seals were intact on receipt.

Pros: Nice sound - smooth and rounded especially higher up the string. Easy to play
Cons: Playing nearer the bridge seems for me and my instrument more important for focus higher up the string maybe than with other strings, but that's not a problem

Pros: Stayed well in tune remarkably quickly when first put on.
Cons: Wolf note seems a little stronger on D string than with previous make of string.
Other: Feels different from regular Larsen, but I quickly got used to it.Haven't had it long enough to judge reliability or durability.
