Great Quality string!

Pros: The string produces a big, bright sound without losing sound quality. It settled very quickly and with minimal playing. As the name implies it is louder than standard Larsens, so the Soloist is a great pick if your playing requires a big sound output.

Cons: As with all strings (that I've tried out), it does lose a bit of its brilliance after playing in, but not enough to mean you should avoid purchasing this make of string.

good sound

Pros: great sound and even tone

Cons: tuning across from the D (also Larsen Soloist) is not the same - I don't know which string is out, but it has happened before with this string

Better on my cello than Larsen standard

Pros: So much more character than Larsen standard on my cello. Fuller, brighter, more overtones, bigger dynamic range. Also reminds me of a Gut A string somewhat that I tried once with a more raspy texture I really miss with the Gut.

Cons: None

Decent but not perfect

Pros: Retained good, bright tone quality without harshness of some other makes.

Cons: Not quite as nice a "feel" as the old Lycon strings but my supply of those has finally run out.

Worth upgrading to Larsen

Pros: Strong, clear sound

Cons: No cons
